* 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
* 1/4 cup coffee

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 3 (9 inch) pans.
2. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions. Divide two thirds of batter between 2 pans. Stir instant coffee into remaining batter; pour into remaining pan.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. In a measuring cup, combine brewed coffee and 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur; set aside.
4. To make the filling: In a small bowl, using an electric mixer set on low speed, combine mascarpone, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar and 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur; beat just until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

6. To assemble the cake: Place one plain cake layer on a serving plate. Using a thin skewer, poke holes in cake, about 1 inch apart. Pour one third of reserved coffee mixture over cake, then spread with half of the filling mixture. Top with coffee-flavored cake layer; poke holes in cake. Pour another third of the coffee mixture over the second layer and spread with the remaining filling. Top with remaining cake layer; poke holes in cake. Pour remaining coffee mixture on top. Spread sides and top of cake with frosting. Place cocoa in a sieve and lightly dust top of cake. Garnish with chocolate curls. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
7. To make the chocolate curls, use a vegetable peeler and run it down the edge of the chocolate bar.

After your done take the coffee grinds and use them for fertilizer for the plants very good nutrition for the plants!" I have some great frozen coffee recipes? I have seen a lot of people asking for frozen coffee recipes and I have an easy one. I have a smoothie maker that I use to make the frozen coffee b/c it makes it more slush-like. Just put room temp. coffee into blender/smoothie maker add reg. cream (until its the color you like) and some hazelnut (enough that you can really smell the hazelnut) then add ice to the top of the coffee line, next pour chocolate syrup on the ice and blend until you don't hear the ice crackling when the blender is on. Pour into cup, top with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. A spalsh of bailys is good in it as well. Then enjoy!
This recipe can be done with other flavored creams as well but the hazelnut gives it the flavor of starbucks (dunkin donuts, tim hortons etc.) Adding regular cream as well as the hazelnut makes it very creamy and you can use fat free creams. Also, you can make this with the fat free sugar free flavored coffees and omit the cream all together. i_do_not_like_stupidity replied: "I avoid cream, because it is very fattening, but that sounds yummy"
Christie E replied: "Sounds yummy.
I would use french vanilla fat free creamer instead....Works both for cream and the flavoring
Could also add a dollop of ice cream(fat free vanilla) for thickness....
I bet flavored coffees would make it good too.....
:)"

Clare replied: "For speed in the mornings, buy some coffee syrups. They're easy to use and they taste and smell great. You can control the amount of flavoring and sweetness and they won’t cause all of your coffee equipment to be tainted with an assortment of flavors because you stir them into your hot coffee after you've poured your coffee into your mug. They come in a great many flavors, too! If you can't get them locally, you can order them on the internet."

ravenclaw515 replied: "1 oz espesso to about 4-6 oz milk (before steaming). If using flavor, one oz will do.
For lattes, 1/3 of the milk should be foamed. For cappuccino, 2/3 of the milk should be foamed.
Whole milk foams better than low-fat.
Macchiattos are made with one oz of espresso topped with one spoonful of stiff foam."
skyblue replied: "A cappuccino is generally defined as 1 or 2 shots of espresso (it could have even more), 1/2 cup size of steamed milk and 1/2 cup size of milk foam. There are also "wet cappucinos", (3/4 hot milk and 1/4 milk foam), "dry cappucinos" (1/4 hot milk and 3/4 milk foam) and "bone dry cappucinos" (only the espresso and a full cup of milk foam).

I'm a huge coffee fan, but I want to expand my horizons beyond just cream and sugar in the morning. I love the "specialty" drinks that I can buy at my local coffee shop, but I don't want to spend $5 for a cup or consume all the sugar.
Does anyone have any recipes that I can make at home that taste similar to what the coffee shop serves? mqudee replied: "Try this one: pour 1 cup of very strong coffee into the blender, add a few ice cubes, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 small splash of cream and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Run on high until the ice cubes have been crushed, and serve immediately.
.. oh, and you may want to buy a milk frother ..
The glass jar is microwave safe, so you heat the milk, place the piston/lid on the jar, and pump a few times. You'll have frothing milk in a matter of minutes, and with that you can make several of the delicious coffee-shop drinks :)" What are some of your favourite iced coffee recipes? Coffee Bean Freeze-
In a 16oz. cup fill 90% with Ice cubes
add 1.5 oz of milk or cream
add 1 oz of coffee syrup (Autocrat)
then fill cup 95% full with your favorite coffee that has been refrigerated.
Blend contents of cup for 2 mins, too long and it gets foamy.
Top with a little whipped cream and a chocolate-covered espresso bean.
Delicious! Not too sweet, not too much fat or calories.
The amounts are the minimums I recommend to get it to blend well. Increasing the milk and syrup will improve consistency but also increase calories."

Then it's up to you if you dress it with milk and sugar, cream or half and half. Or you could put in chocolate syrup and cream for an iced mocha.
If you have a good coffee base, you can experiment with flavors and other ingredients.
Personally, I wouldn't use instant coffee. It has a heavy after taste to me. But that would be your personal preference.
Good luck!"
